Bushy Park Tarapuruhi
Built in 1906, for Mr G.F. Moore, Bushy Park Homestead and Stables were designed by the notable architect Charles Tilleard Natusch

Brief Historical Information:

Built in 1906 by Messrs. Russell and Bignell of Wanganui for Frank Moore, a well-known Hereford cattle and racehorse breeder. The Architect was Charles Tilleard Natusch.

Upon Moore’s death in 1962 the home and 220 acres of surrounding bush was gifted to Forest and Bird. In 1995 the management of the site was handed to Bushy Park Homestead and Forest Trust. The homestead is leased out and provides accommodation, meals and function rooms. An environmental education centre was established in the stables.  A predator-free fence has been added to protect the bird-life. Volunteers continue to provide support for the site and the forest is flourishing.

Restoration and Current Owner Story

The Trust continues to restore the building and grounds through fundraising and a lease on the building.
